Course Description

 

This refresher course is designed to update and reinforce essential knowledge on the safe use of ladders and stepladders in the workplace. It revisits key principles from the initial ladder awareness training, focusing on risk assessment, correct ladder selection, inspection, and safe working practices. The course ensures continued compliance with health and safety regulations and promotes a culture of safe ladder use.

Who is this for?

This course is aimed at individuals who have previously completed ladder awareness training and require a refresher to maintain competency. It is suitable for workers who use ladders or stepladders as part of their job, as well as supervisors or managers responsible for overseeing work at height. Typical sectors include construction, maintenance, facilities management, retail, warehousing, and general trades.

Course Content:

  • Recap of relevant legislation (e.g., Work at Height Regulations)
  • Responsibilities of employers and employees
  • Types of ladders and appropriate usage
  • Pre-use inspection and defect recognition
  • Safe handling, positioning, and securing of ladders
  • Common hazards and how to avoid them
  • Limits of ladder use and when alternatives are required
  • Best practices for working safely at height
  • Practical guidance or review (where applicable)

Test and Certification:

At the end of the course, you will take a test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions with a required pass rate of 85%
Upon successful completion, you will be able to download and print a digital certificate if required. The main course certificate is valid for three years, with refresher courses available and recommended every 12 months.

Main Course Duration: Approximately 25 minutes (excluding the final test time)
