About the scheme

Risk Assessments and Method Statements otherwise known as RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement) are at the centre of health and safety management within any industry.

Companies have the duty to carry out conduct Risk Assessments and Method Statements to guarantee the safety of employees whilst ensuring a thorough assessment has been conducted.

Risk Assessments should cover three basic areas:

  • Identifying the risk
  • Assessing
  • Implementing controls to reduce risks.

Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and The Management of Health & Safety At Work Regulations 1999, all of the processes that you undertake and all of the work equipment that is used in the workplace must be assessed for safety and where possible risk removed or reduced as low as reasonably practicable.

Importance of RAMS:

  • Legal Compliance: While risk assessments are legally required, method statements help fulfil the obligation to provide a safe working environment.
  • Safety Assurance: RAMS documents help minimize the risk of accidents and injuries by providing clear guidelines and safety measures.
  • Communication: They serve as a communication tool to inform all stakeholders about the risks and safety procedures associated with a project

To enable you to fulfil this requirement ISA provide a ‘Risk Assessment & Method Statement Support Scheme’ to businesses to enable you to fulfil the requirements of the Law.
