Course Description

 

This course trains individuals to carry out the role of Fire Marshal or Fire Warden within their workplace. It covers the legal responsibilities, key duties, and practical skills needed to help prevent fire incidents, support safe evacuation, implement fire safety measures, and assist with emergency procedures. Delivered online, it includes up-to-date guidance and assessment to ensure competence in the role.

Who is this for?

The course is ideal for employees appointed to act as Fire Marshals or Wardens, supervisors, safety representatives, or anyone tasked with helping manage fire safety in their workplace. It’s suitable across all sectors for example offices, factories, schools, retail, or public premises where designated staff are required to help enforce fire precautions, lead evacuation efforts, and ensure that firefighting and prevention measures are maintained.

Course Content:

  • Legal framework and fire safety regulations relevant to Fire Marshals/Wardens
  • Roles and responsibilities of a Fire Marshal/Warden
  • Fire prevention: identifying fire hazards, removing or controlling ignition sources, proper storage etc.
  • Fire detection, alarm systems, and how they work
  • Emergency evacuation procedures: plans, routes, muster points, safe shutdown if feasible
  • Using fire-fighting equipment safely (when appropriate) and understanding its limitations
  • Communication during an emergency: coordinating people, liaising with emergency services
  • Monitoring and maintenance of fire safety measures: escape routes, signage, means of raising alarm
  • Reporting duties and record keeping: what to record (incidents, drills, faults etc.)
  • Practical scenarios / case studies or simulations (even in online format) to apply principles

Test and Certification:

At the end of the course, you will take a test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions with a required pass rate of 85%
Upon successful completion, you will be able to download and print a digital certificate if required. The main course certificate is valid for three years, with refresher courses available and recommended every 12 months.
