Course Description

Our Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) course is designed to give a full comprehensive training for anyone who works around potentially harmful substances. Each year, more than 13,000 people lose their lives due to industrial diseases caused by inhaling dust and fumes. Additionally, over the past 12 months, approximately 1.2 million individuals have suffered from illnesses caused or exacerbated by workplace environments. These incidents result in over 3 million lost working days, amounting to a significant cost of £9.4 billion to the British industry. Compliance with COSHH requirements plays a vital role in reducing the likelihood of contracting illnesses and ultimately saves lives.

Cleaners, hairdressers, welders, bakery workers, garage workers and healthcare staff, amongst others, are all at danger of exposure to dangerous substances.If you work with potentially harmful substances, then this course is for you

Course Content:

The COSHH course covers the following key topics:

  1. Latest Classification, Labelling, and Packaging (CLP) Regulations 2018: Understanding the current labelling system for hazardous substances.
  2. Requirements of the COSHH Regulations 2002: Comprehending the legal obligations and responsibilities under COSHH, including risk assessments, control measures, monitoring, and emergency procedures.
  3. Approaching Potentially Dangerous Substances: Practical guidance on working safely with or around hazardous substances, including handling, storage, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Test and Certification:

At the end of the course you will be given a test of 20 multiple choice questions. The required pass rate is 85%.

You will be able to download and print (if required) a digital certificate on completion of the course.

Main course certificates last 3 years. (Refresher courses are available and recommended every 12 months).

All our courses have been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

Course Duration:

Main Course: Approximately 50 minutes (excluding time taken for the final exams).
